2025: The year Modular DS grew up
If I had to sum up 2025 in one sentence, it would be this: This was the year Modular DS stopped being “a tool with promise” and became “a tool that truly transforms” how professionals manage multiple WordPress sites.
It’s been intense. Exciting. Sometimes exhausting. But above all, it’s been packed with milestones and learnings that changed us, as a product and as a team.
Here’s a recap of what we’ve lived through.
Table of contents
An AppSumo launch that changed everything
We started the year with one clear goal: get known beyond Spain. And we had one idea to kick things off: launching on AppSumo.
Honestly, we weren’t expecting anything outside the usual from this launch. Mostly to reach a few new global users and gather feedback to keep improving the platform.
But reality surprised us (in the best way).
After welcoming several thousand professionals, we ended up as one of the top 10 launches of the year on the platform, which is a massive milestone considering how many products launch there every year.
Of course, it was a wild month. Support was intense. Fixes and improvements happened almost in real time. But more than anything, it was a huge validation of what we’re building. It’s not a coincidence that the highest tier was the best-selling one or that almost 90% of users stayed with us after the launch. The AppSumo community quickly saw the value (and the potential) of Modular DS.
And since people ask us this often: no, we don’t plan to do AppSumo again. We learned a lot, but I’m not sure our hearts could handle a second round 😅
A new investment round to keep moving forward
Shortly after that, in spring, we closed a new investment round to help us expand our brand awareness, strengthen key areas of the team (marketing and sales), and accelerate product development.
We were lucky to do it with our existing investors, the same people who decided to double down and trust us again. For a founder, that means even more than money. It’s a sign we’re heading in the right direction.
A year of growth
In 2025, we shipped more than 15 new features, plus almost 100 improvements and fixes. The work our dev team delivered this year has been incredible.
Picking favorites is hard, but four stood out as the ones you loved the most:
1. Restoring backups from Modular DS
Probably the most requested feature we’ve ever built. Because having a backup matters, but being able to restore it quickly and easily matters just as much.
2. Global reports and templates
Client reports are one of the highest-value features for WordPress agencies and freelancers using Modular DS. Proof of this is that in 2025 alone, 90,000+ client reports were generated from the platform.
So reusable report templates were essential. And we took it a step further with global reports, so you can generate reports across multiple websites at once.
3. Safe Updates + Update Copilot
Safe updates with automatic rollbacks, visual comparisons, and an AI-powered scoring system that learns from the tens of thousands of sites managed in Modular DS and tell you how risky an update is (and whether it’s worth using the safe update flow).
In our opinion, this is a game-changer in the way WordPress updates are done, and we’ve rarely seen this level of positive feedback for a new feature.
4. Patchstack integration
Partnering with Patchstack, a leading name in WordPress security, opened the door to something big: helping you prevent attacks before they happen.
With early vulnerability detection and the ability to apply automated virtual patching, security becomes much more proactive.
As I said above, these are just four highlights. You can find the rest of what we shipped on our blog.
The best part? This is only the beginning of what we want to build, what we’ve imagined, and what our users keep inspiring us to create.
Always close to the community
In 2025, we attended, sponsored, and spoke at quite a few WordPress events, like WordCamp Europe in Basel and WordCamp Madrid, Logroño, and Valencia in Spain. Besides co-organizing the WordPress meetup in León, our hometown.

We also joined seven marketing, design, and development events, where we met a lot of talented people.
And for the first time, we hosted our own events:
Modular DS Connect 2025 (online)
Our first Spanish-speaking event to showcase what was new in Modular DS, interview industry experts, and spend time with the community.
Very few moments this year were as special as seeing users react live while we revealed the new features in Modular DS 2.0.
The response was amazing, and we already know it’s coming back in 2026. This time also for our English-speaking community.
WP Agency Forum (in person)
WP Agency Forum was a new business-focused event in Madrid, Spain, for digital agencies working with WordPress, created together with SiteGround Spain.
After a lot of work from both teams, what started as a “let’s try this” turned into a sold-out event, with 150 professionals enjoying a program fully focused on scaling agencies and sharing real experiences with peers.
It was one of the highlights of the year, without a doubt.

And honestly, the best part of every event was the conversations: users coming over to share how they use Modular DS day to day, what they’ve built with it, and what they’d love to see next.
That kind of feedback gives us a huge boost to keep pushing forward.
What didn’t go so well
Of course, not everything went as planned. One example was our Product Hunt launch, something we were genuinely excited about.
Even though our users and community showed up in a big way (thank you 💜), the reality is we weren’t featured as product of the day, and it didn’t get much traction.
But we learned something important: on Product Hunt, it’s not enough to mobilize your audience. You also need visibility and a community inside the platform itself, so people who don’t know you yet can discover you.
A good lesson for the future. We’re convinced we could have done it better, and if we go for it again, we’ll approach it differently.
The team behind it all
2025 also brought major changes to our team.
On one hand, we said goodbye to Alejandro, someone who’d been with us almost from the start. We truly wish him all the best as he starts his own project.
On the other hand, Reyes and Pablo joined our adventure, and from day one, they’ve become key people for both the product and the team.
We also got support in other key areas from experts like Héctor, Fernando, Albert, and Francisco, who help us do things that would be much harder to pull off alone.
What we’re most proud of isn’t the team getting bigger. It’s the culture we’re building along the way.
Tapas nights, trips together, after-work activities, dart games… Those moments remind us we’ve done something that’s genuinely hard: building a team of good people, who enjoy working together and show up for each other when it matters.

That’s our biggest win.
Because when the tough moments came (AppSumo, big launches, deadlines, organizing events…) everyone gave more than what was expected.
You can’t teach that. It spreads. And it deserves to be appreciated.
The impact of Modular DS
All of this work has had a clear result: every day, Modular DS helps more and more professionals manage their WordPress sites efficiently and build strong, sustainable maintenance services.
We’re ending the year with:
- 40,000+ websites managed in Modular DS
- Users in 120+ countries
- 3M+ updates performed from the platform
- 1.5M backups created
Oh, and we were runner-up for best WordPress maintenance plugin at the 2025 Monster Awards!
What we learned in 2025
We could write an endless list, but three lessons really stayed with us:
- People are everything. Hiring and keeping motivated people who want to grow with the project makes all the difference.
- Less is more. Sometimes the answer isn’t doing more, it’s doing better with what we already have.
- Think global. Our market isn’t Spain. Or Europe. It’s the world. And we’re going for it.
Thank you for being part of this journey
To our community. To our users. To everyone who gives feedback, reports bugs, shares ideas, and pushes us forward. To everyone who trusted us when Modular DS was still just a dream.
Thank you.
2025 was a great year, and what comes next is even more exciting.
We want 2026 to be the year we take off globally and innovate, with possibilities we haven’t seen before when it comes to managing multiple WordPress sites.
