New in Modular DS: Slack and Discord integration, safe updates for themes, and more
We’re closing out 2025 with a special update and probably one of our most complete releases so far.
It includes 15+ improvements and new features designed to make managing your WordPress sites easier and more efficient.
Most of these updates come directly from your suggestions and feedback. They may be small on their own, but together they can make a big difference in how you work with the platform.
Here is a quick look at the highlights.
Table of contents
Slack and Discord integration for notifications
Receive downtime, vulnerability, and other important alerts directly in Slack or Discord, in addition to email and WhatsApp.
This will help you and your team stay on top of what’s happening across your sites without leaving the tools you already work in, making it easier to spot and respond to issues quickly.
Included in Business and Enterprise plans.
Safe Updates for themes
You can now update themes safely, just like plugins. Compare “before and after” changes visually and roll back instantly if something goes wrong.
One more helpful step to reduce risks when updating your WordPress sites.
Exclude files from backups
Make your backups lighter and more efficient by excluding file types (specific extensions) or files above a certain size.
Custom settings for manual backups
Apply specific exclusion rules when running manual backups, without affecting your scheduled backup settings.
Clear cache button
Clear the cache of your sites directly from Modular DS. Compatible with the most popular WordPress caching plugins.
Plugin installation helper
When you install a plugin from the global updater or upload a ZIP manually, you’ll see which sites already have it installed, so you can update it only where it’s needed and avoid unnecessary mistakes.
Report improvements
- Scheduled report preview: Check how a recurrent report will look and that everything is set up correctly before it’s sent. Even if you’ve just created it and there’s no information yet, you’ll see a preview with sample data.
- Multiple email domains: If you work with different brands or projects, you can now send reports using any verified email domain in Modular DS.
- Client logo is now optional: Create and send a report without a logo whenever you need to.
- Error visibility: If a report fails to generate, you’ll see the reason directly on its details page.
Updates to the site list
Your site list in Modular DS now displays each site’s favicon and includes a new uptime status column, making it easy to get more context at a glance.
You can also pin your favorite sites so they always appear first.

And there’s more. From improved error visibility in backups to the ability to reorder tags or delete multiple clients at once.
